Hello, and welcome to the new KuKuRuZa (pronounced "Koo Koo Roo Zah") blog! Kukuruza is the Russian word for maize (corn). So now you know. And maybe it will win you a million dollars on a game show one day (don’t forget who gave you the answer). Here you will find everything you ever wanted to know about popcorn, some things you never knew you wanted to know to know about popcorn, and some other fun things too.

If you aren’t already familiar with KuKuRuZa, allow us to introduce ourselves!

We are Seattle’s source for handcrafted gourmet popcorn. Locally owned and established in Seattle in 2008, all of our popcorn is made fresh every day (no pre-packaged, preservative-ridden, one year expiration date nonsense here).  Nice to meet you.

We always have a revolving door of flavors. This flavor door revolves as fast or as slow as we are able to turn our crazy ideas into something we feel proud putting our name on. Good recipes take time to develop, but we aim for a new one each month. If we miss a month, it’s because we weren't satisfied with what we came up with, simple as that. Our test kitchen is always popping (heh) with ideas, many of which are originally suggested by our creative customers, such as July 2013's Gourmet Popcorn of the Month, Mint Chocolate Chip.

Then there are the crowd pleasing classics such as Brown Butter & Sea Salt, and of course Classic Caramel.
